Kshetra Ganitam was printed in 1857 from Illikunnu in Thalassery, the earliest printing press in Kerala. The book has been written in three sections. The book begins by saying that Kshetra Ganitam is meant to measure land, fields, rivers, forts, etc., and describes the line, circle, angles, and various geometrical forms and explains them through diagrams. There are two ways in which this book deserves consideration. First, Kshetra Ganitam is a publication that sheds light on the history of printing press in Kerala. It has such great importance. Secondly, the contents of this book are the local and practical remnants of the land survey used and grown in the unique social context of colonial Kerala.
